X's Advent - Announcement Devlog

I'm General Retro27 (old username : Mister Amine) and today, I will present to you my indie game 2d platformer project called " X's Advent " (not a Mario Odyssey fangame).

But you're wondering What is X's Odyssey ?

X's Odyssey is...

My indie game is mainly inspired of 2d Super Mario games : 

Super Mario Bros. 1 (NES), Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2 (or Super Mario U.S.A. in Japan), Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land: The 6 Golden Coins, Super Mario World, Mario Bros. (Arcade, 1983), New Super Mario Bros. , New Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

And also inspired of old games and has a visual art of old school consoles :

Old school consoles inspired : Arcade, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis & Sega Master System

Old games inspired :

Alex Kidd in Miracle World, ANTONBLAST, Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of The Furred Kind, Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, Donkey  Kong (Arcade, 1981), Donkey Kong Jr. (Arcade), Donkey Kong Country 1, DuckTales 1 (NES), Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Pac-Land, Pizza Tower, Shantae (Game  Boy Color), Toy Story 1 (The video game), Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Wario Land 2 and Yo ! Noid.

Here, you play as a human from the real world called " X " and save the world and stop the evil " King Fly " from the Fantasy World. And X gets in the Fantasy World and meets Muno and Mr. Duck, two guiders to help him to go in the King Fly's lair, the Purple Lava Volcan ! But that will be not easy because the King Fly will try to stop X by using his minions !

In the levels, you can use Transformations (example : Builder transformation, JetPack transformation and Plush Transformation), or throw fruits at enemies, have help with animals, use vehicles and more !

Get diamonds to buy transformations (for example) at Mr. Kato's Shop !

There are Special stages in levels (like the bonus stages in Crash Bandicoot game)

You can play the game with a playstation pad or Xbox pad but you can also play it with a Sega Megadrive pad or a SNES pad !

There will be a filters (cathodic tv filter, gba filter and more) !

There is skins in the game (just like in ANTONBLAST) !

I decided to make this style of old game because I want to make the game just like I wanted and something that looks just like ME. Also put easter eggs and references to games, show and movies I know since my childhood to me (of now).

My game gonna launch the Tuesday, May 27th 2025 on Steam ! Itch. Io ! And GameJolt !
